As cases and restrictions around COVID-19 have increased, Georgetown Bread Basket has had to continue the hamper model at least until the end of May.
Clients will be given pre-packed hampers and fill out a short pick list of perishable items that they will receive along with our hampers. Unfortunately, we will not be able to let our clients come into our building, so having pre-prepared hampers will help to reduce the amount of time that they will have to wait in their cars.
Since the warm weather has arrived, we are not accepting phone in orders unless you require a delivery. Please note that deliveries are only for clients that cannot get in to the food bank because of lack of transportation or illness. Deliveries are on Wednesdays and you must call in your order before 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Our phone number is 905-873-3368.

Important:

-If you feel sick in any way, please call for a delivery before 10 am on Wednesday mornings OR ask someone to pick up your groceries for you. You must call in to inform us if someone else is picking up for you. 905-873-3368

-You may have a long wait depending on how many people are in front of you. Our less busy times are between10 to 11 am on Wednesdays and Saturdays and 5:30 to 6:00 pm on Tuesdays. Our busiest time is at opening.

-To reduce your waiting time, call in your order before coming: 905-873-3368

Please be aware that we will not open our doors until the opening time:

Tuesdays: 4:30 p.m.

Wednesdays and Saturdays: 8:30 a.m.

-You must arrive at least ½ hour before closing to be able to have enough time to fill our your order and for our volunteers to shop for you.

Tuesdays: 6:30 p.m.

Wednesdays and Saturdays:11:30 a.m.

Please note that if you arrive later than this, you may not be allowed to shop that day.

-Families of 3 or more can continue to shop every week.

The Board of Directors and Volunteers are working hard to keep food in our client’s hands during this time and ask for your continued patience. We are all looking forward to the time when we can get back to normal operations.
